The Wispa Returns
For what may be a short time only, the Cadbury’s Wispa is back!
Many people would have heard about Cadbury relenting to the Internet pressure (on the likes of MySpace, Facebook and various Internet petition sites) and agreeing to bring back the ‘Velvety Textured Milk Chocolate’ bar for a limited 23 million run.
And I have two! I haven’t dared open one yet. Can I defile the sacred Wispa wrapper? With only about a third of a bar per head of population, do I have the right? Do I risk my immortal soul by even thinking of biting into a Wispa?
Well, of course, I don’t believe I have an immortal soul, no matter how god-like Cadbury seems right now! If these 23 million sell well enough I suspect there will be a second run or, maybe, even a full return to production for the chocolate bar. It will be like the summer of 1983 all over again!
One thing I notice is that they now call them ‘Aerated Milk Chocolate Bar’ on the packaging. Not quite as interesting sounding as the ‘Velvety Textured’ they made so much of on its original launch. Describe it how they will, it had better be the same inside! I’ll have one for lunch today and let you know…
hmm…your placing far too much importance on the return of a simple chocolate bar – especially as there’s always Aero – when you should be far more concerned about the return of Robin Hood this coming Saturday, surely a far more hideous come-back then any a person could have foreseen….
Aero is nothing like Wispa and nor is Diary Milk Bubbly (which is very much like Aero)! I’ve just savoured my first Wispa in a good few years and I’m glad to say it was exactly as it used to be (before it disappeared, that is, it did change shape a little somewhere in the 90s, I think). It was excellent! Of course I recommend people in the Crawley area don’t buy too many – I don’t want the shops to sell out too quickly here!
As for Robin Hood… I don’t think there were any Internet movements to get that one back, probably quite the reverse… Nonetheless, I’ll give it another go. It wasn’t too bad by the end of the last season. It’s not Doctor Who, which clearly didn’t help its case. We’ll see on that one. Certainly nothing like the importance of the Return of the Wispa…
Not so much a whisper and a mildly possessed rant eh? Still, glad you’re happy. I might indulge for old time’s sake… though I am a bit of a boost fan these days.
Robin Hood – actually I rather enjoyed it… especially “A Thing or Two About Loyalty” the Cornell penned, Grahame Harper directed episode actually…
Boost? For shame! Nothing can top the Wispa. Especially when dunked in a cup of coffee and thoroughly sucked – heaven!
It’s a sad day for England when you watch Robin Hood and find yourself on the side the Sheriff and Guy!
