  1. Hey, thanks for the goodbye. If you weren’t at LugRadio Live last weekend then you may not have heard that we were bullied have decided to do LugRadio Live again next year — so only a year to wait for the next episode 🙂 Keep up the good work here at SS!

  2. Another fab show. Also quite qoried about the prisoner remake… why cane people leave things alone! and will this one have as disappointing an end as the original?

    keep up the good work

Nice ‘cast. It’s good to hear a difference of opinion among the podcasters – although I think Fake Keith is wrong – Fires of Pompeii was excellent!! But I do agree with her about Catherine Tate – I was one of those shouting loudly that she would be awful and I’m pleased to have been proved wrong. Keep up the good work guys 🙂

  4. Wow, three great comments! Let’s take ’em in order.

Stuart, the great Aq man! I made it to the first three UK LugRadio Lives but, sadly, failed to get to this fourth one. I am very glad to hear there will be more. No missing it next year! I just have to say a big thank you to all of you LugRadio chaps – yourself, Jono, Matt, Sparkes, Ade, Adam and Chris, plus the odd guest presenter I’ve missed and everyone else in anyway responsible! A fantastic podcast that will be sadly missed. Five seasons of insightful, interesting and, more than anything else, entertaining ‘radio’! I was listening from the beginning I believe – thanks to a news article that I think Matt somehow got onto The Register (or was the The Inquirer?) I still remember your reaction at the first LugRadio Live, the disbelief at how many people were filling up that relatively tiny main room! Great stuff! As I said in the podcast, you guys really showed me how amazing podcasts with a few friends can be (although no one really used the term ‘podcast’ way back at the start of LugRadio’s time). It’s no accident that we try to keep it to four friends on Staggering Stories – we learnt from the masters! Thank you for all the great times and I look forward to catching up with you all next year! You guys really have created something amazing. I really must listen to them again from the beginning, to ease the withdrawal symptoms!

Hey, Tin Dog! I really must get back over to your site to leave some proper feedback – I’m absolutely terrible at that! Bad Adam! Another great podcast that I hugely enjoy listening to, I’m very glad you are not stopping! As for The Prisoner… I have my doubts too. No, that’s putting it far too mildly – I just don’t think they can make it work in the modern age. I could be wrong – I was about the new Doctor Who, I just couldn’t imagine that working but it does, it REALLY does! As a 6 hour mini series that might just make the Prisoner work, I suppose. If they resist the temptation to make it all exciting and whizz bang. It needs to be dark, psychological. It’s got to keep us guessing – who can we trust, why is he there, who put him there, who is number six, etc. You know, like the Prisoner! As for the ending… Yeah, I never really understood Fall Out, I’m not sure even Patrick McGoohan truly did. It was a little disappointing as you came away feeling that you’d found out nothing, a series without a resolution. Having said that, though, I don’t really want this new Prisoner to end with everything explained either. Too neat an ending might be worse than what we’ve already had. I don’t know. It’s a very tough call. Damn brave writer to take that one on!

Hi Nathan! You’re certainly right, it is good to hear a nice difference of opinion on a podcast (a regularly entertaining aspect of a certain British Linux radio show!) At Staggering Stories, however, we tend not to be so good at the disagreement thing – we’re just too damned agreeable! Fortunately our latest edition to the cast, the real Keith, is a little more forthright than the rest of us softies, so there is certainly hope! As for Catherine Tate – how utterly amazing was she?! I too am one record (on podcast, in fact) as to saying I had a very bad feeling about her return. I hated Donna from the Runaway Bride and thought that was all Tate could do. I was so wrong. I think a lot of other people feel the same. In fact at the Doctor Who prom at the Albert Hall yesterday (fantastic event, by the way) I’m pretty sure that Catherine Tate’s unexpected appearance on stage got by far the biggest clapping and cheering. Rightly so. She seemed genuinely moved by it – I’m sure she was a little anxious about the fan reaction before returning to Who but I wonder if she really has any idea of the level of appreciation she now has. Utterly deserved, all of it.

Thank you all three for your comments. Very much appreciated!
