I’ve just managed to install WordPress on my new Bytemark Virtual Machine server. It was surprisingly easy. I just wish all web server software installed like that – copy the directory to the web path, edit a single text file to give the database details and then run a very simple two step install process through my web browser. I am very impressed indeed.

I’ll be wanting to do more configuration tweaks to WordPress before I really roll it out, such as choose a suitable Theme (and alter it, if necessary, to fit in better with the current Staggering Stories look.) I also have concern about possible overlap between the functions of our existing (and somewhat sparsely used) forum and this blog. That requires more thought – I don’t want to kill off the ailing forum.

There is also the question of what I actually put in this blog. Do I really have enough of interest to say, that I can say? What buy-in will I get from the other Staggering Stories contributors (especially as the two most prolific have recently started blogs elsewhere?)

Time will tell. Time’s like that – a right old snitch!
